I am a passionate about innovative audio. I was Head of Technology at BBC Radio and received the BBC Radio "Gold Award" in 2015. My work with dialogue audibility using audio objects received an innovation award at NAB in Las Vegas. I created the BBC Radio 3 HD Sound service which achieved international recognition.
In 2015 I left the BBC to establish Brun Audio Consulting Ltd to help you create great audio. I am based in Whitstable, England and work around the world.
I have designed radio production, DJ, music and drama studios, created exciting new online experiences, managed the delivery of outside broadcast vehicles, playout systems and broadcast infrastructure. I invented the BBC Radio 3 “HD Sound” streaming service and have taken radio beyond stereo, leading delivery of all the BBC Proms Concerts in surround sound. I am a member of the Institute of Engineering and Technology and the Audio Engineering Society.
I have a solid track record of award-winning innovation, not only in audience facing services but in back-end processes and systems.
If you wish to simplify workflows, review your support processes, measure the acoustic performance of your studios, improve your technical architecture or redesign your studios to make them more flexible and efficient, I can help. My clients include major commercial radio groups and technology companies as well as international aid funded organisations.
I have delivered numerous presentations to senior managers in broadcast organisations around the world, as well as speaking at international conferences including events in New York, Los Angeles and San Francisco and at the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva. I have made many radio and TV appearances covering topics such as accessible media and the strategic direction of the audio media industry.
