Rupert has 40 years’ experience in audio engineering and honed his innovation skills working in the BBC Radiophonic Workshop. His pioneering work with audio objects to allow the viewer to alter the relative loudness of dialogue and background sounds won the innovation award at NAB in 2011. Rupert also received the Gold Award from BBC Radio in 2015. Rupert is now a freelance consultant working on audio for next generation TV with Fraunhofer IIS. Rupert also provides a consultancy service to broadcasters, covering topics from acoustic performance to broadcast resilience, and he represents a number of broadcast equipment manufacturers in the UK.

Rupert has previously spoken at AES (Audio Engineering Society) conventions in the USA and Europe as well as giving talks to the European Broadcasting Union in Geneva and at many conferences in the UK.

 

Rupert is a member of the Audio Engineering Society and the IET. He lives in Whitstable, in the South of England, with his wife.
